Schaer's distinct style is without doubt authentic, yet paradoxically the atavistic elements within the work are perhaps echoes from her ancestral Nordic and Celtic roots.
Her intuitive approach and interest in the archetypal is evident, particularly her empathy with the Primitives, Surrealists, Folk and Outsider Art. In fact her linoprints would sit comfortably within the Ethnographic genre.
However, clearly this is a contemporary artist, self taught whose intriguing muses reveal the art of a lucid imagination and a consummate skill that has been honed and carefully crafted over many years of practice.
Please feel free to browse through the online gallery which consists of acrylic paintings, watercolours, linoprints and papier mache sculptures. Eileen also welcomes your comments.
